Introduction (About Me) Teaching, Technology & Growth: Reflections from a Student-Athlete.

Welcome to my reflective teaching and learning blog.

My name is Ethan Quai. I am an undergraduate education student who is deeply passionate about growing within the teaching profession and continually learning how to become the best educator possible. Alongside my academic journey, I am also an athlete currently based in France, where I play rugby league at a competitive level. Balancing life as both a student and an athlete has taught me discipline, resilience, adaptability, and the importance of community qualities that I believe are equally essential in education. This blog has been created as a reflective space where I can document my learning journey, challenge my thinking, and engage critically with important topics surrounding education, technology, and teaching practice. More importantly, I hope this becomes a welcoming and inclusive space for people from all walks of life, students, educators, athletes, and anyone passionate about growth and learning. One of the most important lessons I have learned, both in sport and education, is that no two people are the same. Every individual comes from a different background, carries different experiences, and learns in different ways. As future educators, it is our responsibility to create safe spaces where everyone feels valued, heard, and comfortable expressing themselves, even when discussing difficult or uncomfortable topics. For me, this blog is more than an academic requirement. It is a place where I can be honest, reflective, and open. It is somewhere I can come to get things off my chest, explore challenges, and know that my voice matters as both a student and an athlete navigating two demanding but rewarding worlds. My goal is to use this space to reflect on teaching practices, digital technologies, wellbeing, inclusion, and the future of education. I hope these reflections not only support my own professional growth but also encourage others to think deeply about the kind of educators and people we want to become.

Welcome to the journey.

Hi Ethan,

I hope this feed back using the SKS model helps.

Keep:

Your reflections effectively balance the advantages and challenges of digital technology in education. I particularly liked how you linked your personal experiences as a professional athlete with broader educational issues such as wellbeing, work life balance and student engagement. The reflections were easy to follow and consistently connected technology back to the role of the teacher. Your discussion about maintaining human connection while embracing technological innovation was especially insightful.

Stop:

One area that could be strengthened is the use of more academic sources to support some of the key claims. While your personal examples added authenticity, additional references from the unit readings could further strengthen your arguments…

Hi Ethan. Thank you for letting me read your blog posts. I like your perspective on the impact of AI use in education and within society. I also think that while it can be a good tool to use, it can also cause people to become too dependent on it. I wish you would have cited academic sources to support your arguments and ideas. While I do agree with your opinions, it would be nice to be able to read some academic literature to back up my opinion. What if next time you research your ideas after you’ve thought of them, so that you have some academic backup? Overall, I found your posts thought-provoking and engaging. You should be very…

Hello Ethan,

My name is Ivana and I am happy to give you my Feedback using the Stanford Feedback Method.

I Like: I liked how you connected your experiences as both an athlete and future teacher to the discussion about education and technology. The reflection felt authentic, thoughtful, and well-structured. The focus on wellbeing, inclusion, and human connection made the blog engaging and relatable.

I Wish: I wish there were more academic examples or references included to strengthen the discussion about technology and AI in education. Some sentences could also be shorter to improve readability and clarity.

What If: What if you included more real-life experiences from sport or university to support your ideas? This could make the reflection eve…
